Stratton Youth round-up

Cirencester Town U15s 3 Stratton Youth U15s 4

STRATTON U15s replaced their hosts Cirencester Town at the top of the table after this local derby played tough conditions with a stiff cross wind and heavy pitch.

The early exchanges saw good pressure from the home side, before Stratton started to settle.

On 17 minutes Stratton took the lead through an Ayden Clarke goal. Three minutes later the lead was doubled as Morgan Fouracres headed in at the far post.

Stratton started to apply more pressure and went 3-0 up with a close range Kieran Walton shot on 22 minutes.

Town steadied the ship and scored on 33 minutes to stay in the game, but Stratton struck back at the end of the first half with a well taken Jack Tysom goal to go in 4-1 up.

The second half was a much closer affair, with the home side applying more pressure for longer periods and they were rewarded with goals in the 64th and 76th minute to ensure a tense finish.

But Stratton held on to win 4-3 and Stratton's man of the match was Kieran Walton for another great defensive effort.

Town's scorers were James Frost and Jack Woods (two).

Hardwicke Rangers U18s 3 Stratton Youth U18s 6

STRATTON used home advantage to good effect when this county cup game was transferred to Baunton Lane after the Hardwicke pitch was deemed unfit.

Stratton attacked from the start and had two attempts cleared off the line in the first two minutes.

Mike White opened the scoring on five minutes with a neat finish. Callum Fallows made it 2-0 five minutes later after pouncing on a goalkeeping error.

Hardwicke pulled one goal back on 15 minutes after yet another Stratton defensive mix-up. Dan James then made it 3-1 with a neat finish from a tight angle. Hardwicke were then given a lifeline due to a very soft penalty decision which made it 3-2 to Stratton at the break.

The second half was a nervy affair and both teams battled well. White added Stratton's fourth on 75 minutes but that was quickly followed by a Hardwicke response, making it 4-3.

In the final ten minutes Stratton rediscovered their passing game and added two quick goals.

Harry Rogers came off the bench to finish well and then Nathan Indge wrapped up the match with a great solo effort.

MoM: Michael White.

King's Stanley U16s 3 Stratton Youth U16s 2

STRATTON U16s had an off- day, losing out King's Stanley.

The game started well enough as a James Thomas corner was bundled in at the far post by Louie Jackson and a Sam Brewster header from Oliver Hopegood’s free kick made it 2-0 but few other chances were created by either side in a quiet first half.

King's Stanley came to life at the start of the second period and directly from the kick off the Stratton midfield and defence moved aside to allow Danny King to score easily past Meichal Wright.

Stratton continued to be generally lethargic and the home side saw their opportunity, taking control of the midfield. They were rewarded when a shot was only parried by Wright and the unmarked King reacted quickly to equalise.

King's Stanley continued to press and with two minutes remaining a Kieran Welsh shot found the net to complete the turnaround for a 3-2 victory.
