Fairford II 187-6 Poulton II 188-2
MARK HIGGINSON starred for Poulton seconds as they recorded a comfortable eight-wicket victory at Fairford on Saturday.
Asked to bat first, home openers Rich Cowley (40) and David Taylor (28) started brightly before Higginson was brought into the attack. He slowed the scoring rate, bowling his ten overs straight through to take 2-37.
Young spinners Harvey Jupp (1-33) and Callum Higginson (1-23) provided useful support.
Simon Embleton-Smith made 35 and Graham Clarke 34*, with Clarke providing a final flourish to take Fairford's score up to a respectable 187-6.
Mark Higginson and Scott Meredith then proceeded to deal with the home side's best efforts with the ball. They put on 133 for the opening wicket at around the required run rate.
Higginson was eventually out for an excellent 90 but Meredith saw Poulton home, playing patiently before a final blitz to reach 68* out of the winning 188-2 in the 36th over.
