FAIRFORD go through to the next round of the Faringdon Thursday Memorial Cup by virtue of a narrow 2-1 win, but they were made to work hard in the second half as Poulton fought back well.
Goals from Dennis Sorrenti and Jack Allen after 12 and 43 minutes gave the home side a clear advantage at half-time.
Poulton had the better of things after the break and pulled one back through Luke Richards just two minutes into the half.
Poulton went on to create a number of good chances but Fairford held on for the win.
