Cirencester AC and Triathlon Club

Tewkesbury Half Marathon, 13.1 miles, roads

STEVE YATES, one of the Cirencester AC's top triathletes, showed that he can hold his own with the runners too, when finishing 10th out of 665 and third V40 in a time of 1:21.27 at the Tewkesbury Half. Jonathan Barnes of Cheltenham Harriers won in 1:15.34.

Transvulcania, 73km mountain trail, Canary Islands

RICHARD HURDLE, one of the club's successful ultra runners, enjoys travelling to some of the world’s tougher events.

The Canary Islands race spans four days, including concerts and events prior to the athletes facing treacherous mountain trails with dramatic altitude changes and often sweltering temperatures.

Richard’s time of 12:44.35 reflects these conditions and he finished 383rd out of 1,092 finishers. The winner, in 6:52.39, was Luis Alberto Hernando-Alzaga from Spain.

Berkeley Power Station 10km, road

A COOL evening greeted two of the club’s senior ladies with Barbara Thomas (53.47) finishing 217th and Ruth Fulford (57.50) in 249th spot at the Berkeley Power Station 10k.

Ruth was third FV65 and this despite running a faster time than last year. Dan Robinson (32.13) of Stroud AC won and 271 finished.

Oxford Town and Gown, 10km road

RETIREMENT must be suiting Terry Ranger who knocked 75 seconds off last year’s time in the Oxford Town and Gown to finish in 330th place with a time of 44.55. The race winner was Miles Unterreiner (31.23) of Oxford University and a hefty 2,829 runners finished.

Chester Half Marathon, 13,1 miles, roads

HAVING moved north, Ciren coach Geoff Wells still represents the club and he ran a solid race at the Chester Half to finish in 1:41.08 and 912th out of 5,606 runners. He didn’t trouble the winner, Vincent Boit (Kenya) who ran a 1:02.21.

Swindon Parkrun, 5km

STILL growing in popularity and responsible for introducing thousands to running, the national number of Parkrun race venues grows by the month.

Andy Powell, one of the club's junior coaches, jogged around in company to finish 181st in 25.58 and the club's most prolific runner, Barbara Thomas, was 228th with a time of 27.31; this gave her first FV55. Phil Kruse won in 17.00 and 485 finished.
