Biggleswade Town 1 Cirencester Town 0

CIRENCESTER TOWN's league season is in danger of petering out as another indifferent display saw them lose to relegation-threatened Biggleswade Town after a long journey to Cambridgeshire.

The visitors' starting XI had one change from the previous match with Kyle Pitts replacing the suspended Ian Herring at right back.

The game soon settled into a midfield battle in which neither side retained the ball for long.

Ten minutes in Aidan Bennett fired a right-footed volley from outside the box that just cleared the top left corner of the goal.

Six minutes later the hosts' Josh Beech headed a corner against the bar from six yards out.

Biggleswade broke the deadlock on 21 minutes when an inswinging free kick from their left back Mark Coulson was headed inside the right post by David Hutton.

During the last ten minutes of the half Cirencester pushed forward looking for an equaliser and late on keeper Ian Brown spilled a shot from Matt Liddiard but was able to grab the ball at the second attempt.

Five minutes into the second half Jay Davies sent a curling free kick over the wall only for Glyn Garner to tip it over the bar at full stretch.

During the next ten minutes Cirencester enjoyed plenty of possession on the edge of the home box for no end product and manager Brian Hughes soon replaced Pitts and Jarvis with Ollie Knight and Jordan Ricketts, switching to a 4-2-4 formation with Liddiard dropping to right back.

Midway through the half Biggleswade had the chance to increase their lead when a low cross from the right corner by Michael King was missed on the edge of the six-yard box by Hutton.

With 15 minutes remaining sub Jacob Davidge forced a smart save from Brown who also cut out a couple of other Cirencester threats.

As Cirencester pushed forward a through ball found Davies in space on the right side of the area. Instead of taking an early shot he decided to try and dribble round Garner but took the ball over the line.
