Painswick 0 Cirencester 26

CIRENCESTER secured a comfortable victory at Broadham Fields on Saturday when the official's whistle proved a constant interruption.

Cirencester's players, who were issued with four yellow cards compared to none for Painswick, showed good discipline despite being penalised at every opportunity.

The score line should have been at least doubled given Cirencester's dominance in all areas but they were constantly penalised allowing Painswick to clear the danger.

Cirencester created numerous chances in the early stages but it took 25 minutes to cross the line with James Fisher scoring and Andy Waite converting.

Fisher then added a second after 31 minutes and Waite converted again. Just before half-time the yellow fever began and James Renowden was sin-binned for not releasing at the tackle.

Before he could return Will Hunt joined him to take Cirencester down to 13 men for an offence at a scrum that Cirencester dominated all day.

Cirencester did manage to get 15 players back on the pitch and were quickly on the scoresheet when Fisher's chip and chase was gathered by Sam Hill who crashed over to score. Waite's conversion took the score to 21-0 after 62 minutes.

It was card time again when Dave Woodcock received a yellow – only his second ever in a 20-year career – for an alleged illegal tackle.

Cirencester then went down to 13 players for the second time with a fourth yellow of the day and to the credit of the remaining players they defended tremendously for a 10-minute period and finished off the game with a fourth bonus point try by Zeb Waite.

Will McCarthy, excellent in defence and master of the line-out, was elected man of the match.
