Upton St Leonards 3 Didmarton 4
LEE KEVEREN headed a last-minute winner as Didmarton took all three points from their trip to third-placed Upton St Leonards – a game they had almost thrown away.
Didmarton took the initiative after 15 minutes when Keveren cleverly threaded a pass through to winger Matt Smith who beat the Upton keeper with a rasping effort.
Upton looked threatening going forward but the Didmarton defence dealt effectively with any threat.
The away side doubled their lead when forward Will Hawes hit a volley on the turn which flew into the corner of the Upton net.
The second half was an open affair with both teams having chances.
Didmarton got a third when the Upton keeper rushed out of his area to clear a loose ball, which then fell to Hawes whose clever lob went into an open net from 35 yards.
A five-minute spell of chaos then saw Upton get back into the game with three goals.
Two of them came from misplaced back passes within a minute and Upton got the equaliser from a well-delivered corner.
Didmarton remained positive, continued to threaten in the final third of the pitch, and were rewarded the final minute with Keveren's headed winner.
A highly entertaining game that Didmarton will be relieved to have not thrown away.
