Bourton 10km, roads

FORTY Cirencester AC runners got places at the ever popular Bourton 10km.

The three lead Ciren runners ran strongly and worked together with Denis Galerin (33.47) finishing sixth ahead of Adrian Williams (34.03) in seventh and Bill Leggate (34.12) in eighth.

There was also a solid run from Simon Campbell (35.03) in 16th.

Wendy Nicholls (37.23) ran well to finish seventh in a very competitive ladies field, picking up first place in the FV45.

Mentions too for Joe Barrowclough, Andy Fellows, Dan Wood and Laurence Griffin who completed in less than 40 minutes and for Mark Gluning who missed out by nine seconds.

Triathlete Sarah Gunn (41.32) was second FV50 and set a CAC age-group record.

There was a second FV60 place for the indomitable Sue Brown, a third FV65 for the returning Liza Darroch and a MV65 third for Tony Shelbourn.

There were endorphin-driven conversations about PBs for Fi Collings, Dan Finchett, David Moss, James Widdowson and Eloisa Townsend and great camaraderie shown by all club members.

The race winner was Will Ferguson (32.36) of CLC Striders and 489 finished.

Lungbuster, Broad Hinton, Wilts, 9miles multi-terrain

LIVING up to its name the race has a series of challenging hills and testing conditions. Dan Wood used his fitness, racing well to a seventh place with a time of 1:04.14. Simon Byrne (57.01) of Swindon Harriers won and 101 finished.

Heartbreaker Marathon, New Forest, 26.2 miles, trails

CIRENCESTER’S peripatetic long distance runner Martin Croucher reports that with pleasant views, New Forest ponies and few serious hills to keep it interesting, the Heartbreaker Marathon is an enjoyable event. Martin finished 24th out of 176 and his time was a competitive 3:26.02. The winner was Pere Cadevila in 2:41.46.

Parkruns, 5km trails

AT Panshanger, Hertford, 12-year-old Luke Buck ran 23.01 to finish 26th and mum Caroline, returning from injury, was 65th in 26.38.

Neil Hume of Garden City Runners, won in 18.26 and 176 finished.

At Lydiard Park in Swindon, Mike Firth (21.16) finished 29th and Barbara Thomas (27.17) was 184th. David Moss (28.16) jogged with the family and was 202nd. The race winner was Damian Grace (18.31) and 436 finished.
