IT was another eventful weekend at Cirencester Hockey Club. The ladies' firsts made a great start against Bristol University but were eventually beaten 4-2, both home goals coming from very skilful play by Mich Cobb.

The ladies twos and threes play in the same league and they went head-to-head on Saturday.

The result went as the form book suggested with the twos winning 4-0.

But it was always a closely-contested game. Goals came from Matilda Dean (3) and Jenny Jones. Player of the match was Cerys Davies.

The men’s seconds, currently one off the bottom in the league, entertained Gloucester City A, who are in second place.

Despite the respective league positions, Cirencester started strongly and within 15 minutes were 2-0 ahead. The score remained the same until half-time.

Superior fitness combined with tactical nous saw Cirencester's domination turn into further goals.

Ollie Latter's finishing was peerless and he netted four quality goals. Once the home side were 7-0 up an element of over confidence emerged, with City taking advantage and scoring twice.

However, Ciren had the last word with goals from Sid Dicker and Chris Thompson.
