MARTIN KEIGHLEY’S Condicote stable sent out a 152-1 double at Cheltenham in December and he kept the Cotswold locals happy when winning another big race on Festival Trials Day at the track.

Keighley’s Annacotty, a Grade One winner at Kempton last season, had flopped in the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury, but he was back to his best to outgun Big Fella Thanks close home the freebets.com Trophy Handicap Chase.

Annacotty has been hunting in a bid to freshen him up since Newbury and the new training regime did the trick as the seven-year-old responded well Gavin Sheehan's urgings.

Keighley said: "He wasn't right in the Hennessy, but a lot of my horses weren't right at the time.

"We'll have to think about the BetBright Chase at Kempton on February 21.”

While Annacotty was pulled up in the Hennessy, Many Clouds gave trainer Oliver Sherwood his biggest prize in years by winning the race.

On Saturday, Many Clouds ended Sherwood’s 14-year losing streak at Cheltenham – and put himself in line for a tilt at the Gold Cup – with victory in the BetBright Cup Chase.

Many Clouds helped set a breakneck pace up front but still had enough reserves to see off Smad Place by a length and a quarter with last year Ryanair Chase winner Dynaste third.

Many Clouds is now available at around the 12-1 mark for the Gold Cup on March 13.

Sherwood said: "He got into a really good rhythm and jumped super. It was important to come here and get him some experience of Cheltenham.

"I'm so pleased he's won as it's my first winner here since the Greatwood Hurdle in November 2000 with Hulysse Royal.

"It's great to have that monkey off my back. The dream is still alive. My job now is to get him back here in one piece for March."

Festival Trials Day had a strange feel with top jockeys Tony McCoy, Richard Johnson and Ruby Walsh all preferring to ride at Doncaster but Naunton’s Sam Twiston-Davies, third in the jockeys’ championship, thrilled his many Cheltenham fans with a win on Saphir Du Rheu in the Cleeve Hurdle.

The horse carries the Andy Strewart colours sported by four-time Ladbrokes World Hurdle winner Big Buck's, and that’s the target now for Saphir Du Rheu who was reverting to the smaller obstacles after falling over fences.

Peace And Co cemented his place as market leader for the JCB Triumph Hurdle when maintaining his unbeaten record in the official trial for the four-year-old championship.

After being held up for most of the race run at a sedate pace, Nicky Henderson's charge came through to lead at the final flight and score by three lengths from Karezak.
