Brockworth Colts 15 Cirencester Colts 10

CIRENCESTER dominated territory and possession only to be sucker-punched during a sin-bin period by a resolute Brockworth side that offered little in offence.

A stiff breeze down the pitch did neither side any favours and the almost bog-like surface hindered open running play.

Cirencester were camped in the hosts' half, but some determined defence and a few off-the ball scuffles led to a fair bit of friction between the two sides.

It boiled over when in scoring his side's first-half try Louis Cooke’s retaliation saw him yellow-carded.

At the restart, Brockworth took full advantage of the extra player scoring two quick tries, the first despite a number of attempted tackles, the second due to a fortunate bounce.

When back to full strength Cirencester took control again but despite being in the hosts' 22 for long periods they were often guilty of one tight play too many and got turned over.

Cooke eventually barged over for a second score only for Brockworth to win a soft penalty which was very well kicked from distance.

As the clock ran down both sides were guilty of some borderline play.

Cirencester, due to injury, were again reduced to 14, and the hosts were more than fortunate to have escaped a yellow card for foul play.

The game ended with Cirencester again pressing for a score but Brockworth held on for a 15-10 win.
Cirencester second row Joe Killick was detained in hospital overnight after being struck on the side of the head and knocked out.

Killick was subsequently discharged but told there can be no contact sports of any description for a full six weeks pending further assessment.
