OLYMPIC and world champion Pete Reed has received the British Olympic Association (BOA) Trophy as Olympic athlete of 2014 during the GB Rowing team dinner at Twickenham.

Helen Glover won the equivalent award in the women's category.

In the same ceremony, Jess Leyden and Jack Beaumont were presented with Mark Lees Awards as the most promising U23 female and male rowers of the year.

The awards were presented by World Rowing (FISA) President Jean-Christophe Rolland.

Reed, the former Cirencester Deer Park pupil from Nailsworth, had a challenging year because of illness, losing his place in the top Men's Four boat. But he came back to play a big part in the Men's Eight gold medal-winning team at the world championships, helping GB successfully defend the title that they won for the first time in 2013.
