CIRENCESTER head pro Ed Goodwin warmed up for the prestigious Pro/Captain Challenge Finals in Turkey next week by finishing fifth in the latest Gloucester & Somerset PGA Medal at the Cleeve Hill Golf Club.
Goodwin shot a level par round of 71 which left him three shots adrift of Seniors Tour player George Ryall, who secured his second consecutive G&S PGA Medal win with a 68.
The consistent Giuseppe Licata further extended his lead over Goodwin at the top of the Total Triumph Order of Merit with a two-under 68 which earned the runner-up spot.
Nick Ellis of Naunton Downs had a share of seventh place with his 72.
Goodwin will almost certainly lose more ground to Licata next week as he misses the G&S medal to partner Cirencester Golf Club captain Mark Woodhead in a valuable tournament inTurkey.
