ED GOODWIN was one of four players to share top spot at the latest Gloucestershire & Somerset PGA Medal played at Chipping Sodbury Golf Club.

No player in the 27-strong field broke par as one over par 73s were good enough to take the money.

Total Triumph Order of Merit leading pair Giuseppe Licata and Cirencester head pro Ed Goodwin were two of the winners and they were joined by Ashley Mansell, who repeated last week's win, and Seniors Tour star George Ryall.

After almost non stop rain on the preceding day the Beaufort course at Chipping Sodbury was more like Soddenbury.

The club’s greenkeeping staff did an excellent job to get the course fit for play.

Goodwin and Licata are no strangers to the Sodbury layout having competed and enjoyed success at the last two Matchplay Championships held at the venue.

Goodwin made a very impressive 15 pars in his round with his only birdie coming at the par five 9th when he extricated himself from a water hazard before holing the subsequent putt for a four.

Ryall and Goodwin also shared the Over 40s sweep between them.

With Licata and Goodwin matching each other shot for shot this week it only served to extend their lead further over the chasing pack in the season-long battle for the Total Triumph Order of Merit.
