Bideford 0 Cirencester Town 2

THE Centurions completed the double over Bideford and shut out the Devon side for the first time this season after the long journey West.

While not as emphatic as their 6-2 victory in the second game of the season, this was a comfortable, professional win for Cirencester whose pace and movement created constant problems for the hosts.

The visitors enjoyed plenty of possession in the opening period and broke the deadlock in the 24th minute after a sweeping move.

Leigh Henry played a ball behind the home defence for Aidan Bennett to chase and his cross from the byline was converted inside the six- yard box by an alert Nat Jarvis.

Six minutes into the second half, Bennett and Ben Prictor combined to provide another chance for Jarvis at the back post, but this time Bideford survived. However, two minutes later the Centurions took a firm grip on the game when Bennett drew keeper Grant Fisher to the right side of the penalty area and instead of shooting he unselfishly squared the ball to an unmarked Jarvis for another tap-in at the far post.

As the half developed Bideford threw caution to the wind and mounted a number of spirited attacks only to be repelled by the Centurions' well organised and resolute defence.
