Glos Reserve League 3/4
Minchinhampton Rams 12 Bream II 29
THE Rams hosted a well-drilled Bream and can hold their heads up after a spirited performance against fiercely competitive opponents.
A series of injuries disrupted Minch: Dom Van-der-Waal (dislocated shoulder), Nick Dill (broken finger) and Simon Laird (neck strain) all failed to finish the game.
The trio had performed admirably in the first half with Dill, in particular, a livewire.
The Rams’ typically slow start gifted two tries to Bream who offloaded effectively, but the second quarter saw Minch camp in the opposition half, defend much better and make inroads through Atkins and French.
Minch started the second half less convincingly, as Bream scored two breakaway tries through their speedy winger, but the last quarter saw Minch on top again.
Man-of-the-match Adam Stride and the rampaging Fraser and French drove Minch forwards magnificently, setting up Weaver to score – superbly converted by Odell – and reducing the deficit further with a forwards’ try.
