Intel FC 3 Oaksey 1

INTEL took advantage of the cancellation of the South Cerney v Poulton game to move into second place in the table with a victory over Oaksey.

Despite missing their top two scorers, Intel were 3-0 up at half-time after dominating much of the first period particularly in midfield.

The home side opened the scoring on 16 minutes when Matthew Gumm was brought down in the box and his penalty was saved by keeper Kristin Trimble, but Gumm made no mistake with the rebound.

Adam O’Bree and Gumm added two more before the interval. Stuart Hudson and the excellent Toby Horton, however, did come close to scoring for Oaksey.

Oaksey regrouped well at the beginning of the second half and began to play some better football. Even so, keeper Trimble was forced to deny Intel two more scoring chances early on.

The good work eventually paid off as Oaksey applied pressure in the last quarter of the game, allowing substitute Jake Pinnell to score with one of his trademark sublime volleys from just inside the penalty area following an excellently diagonal pass from Sam Hainsworth.
