Letcombe 0 Fairford Town 2

FAIRFORD Town sealed their second win inside a week with a 2-0 league triumph at Letcombe on Saturday afternoon.

Going into the game bottom of the division, the Reds registered their first clean sheet since the final game of last term to leap three league places.

It was a spirited performance from the visitors who dominated the encounter, and the scoreline could have been much more.

Manager Gareth Davies made one change to the side with goalkeeper Joe Snell coming back into the line-up in place of Mike Alexander, with regular number one Kieran Shail sidelined with injury.

After a sustained period of pressure Tom Ballard eventually broke the deadlock. A deep free kick from right back Luke Cordery was helped on, with Ballard's excellent finish sweeping the Reds into the lead.

Jack Allen, who netted a brace in the midweek cup win over Milton United, was then denied by Joyce in a one-on-one as Fairford tried to capitalise on extended possession. When Ballard was hauled down with two minutes of the half remaining, Allen stepped up and fired the ball into the top corner to earn Fairford a two-goal advantage.

That was how the scoreline stayed - but only due to further superb saves from Joyce and some inexplicable misses from the visitors.
