SOLID rounds by both Nick Ellis (Naunton Downs) and Ed Goodwin (Cirencester) were not enough to take top billing at the latest Gloucestershire & Somerset PGA Medal at Stinchcombe Hill near Dursley.
Ellis carded a one under par 67 to finish in a tie for second with Scott Thompson, while the consistent Goodwin posted a par round of 68 for a share of fourth .
Top of the leaderboard was the Bristol Golf Centre’s Giuseppe Licata who moved himself to the top of the Total Triumph Order of Merit with a round of 64 and a three-shot victory.
Goodwin had some consolation as his five birdies was the joint-best effort matched only by the winner, so he took a share of the birdie sweep.
Ellis enjoyed a steady round containing three birdies and just a pair of bogeys as he also took the Over 40s sweep home. He hit two of his three birdies in the final three holes.
