AVONVALE YOUTH ROUND-UP

Avonvale Utd U12s 0 Lydiard Millicent U12s 3

AVONVALE U12s suffered their first league defeat in 30 games as they lost 3-0 at home to Lydiard Millicent.

Vale started slowly and conceded early on after some good passing football by a strong away side.

However, as the first half progressed, Avonvale grew into the game and were arguably the better team in the run up to the interval.

Lewis Rodgers forced a couple of good saves from the keeper following great wing play down the left, and Vale also went close through several corners.

Lydiard put themselves fully back on top with a second goal just after half-time and dominated from then on.

A string on fantastic saves by Ben Lemos kept the score down, while Theo Harper and Benjamin Cook worked tirelessly in midfield right to the end before Lydiard scored a third moments before full time.

Avonvale Utd U15s 7 Frampton U15s 0

AVONVALE kept up their winning run with a comprehensive victory over a Frampton side that fought hard for long periods of a fairly even first half.

Vale went 1-0 up when Theo Martin latched on to a through ball and lobbed the keeper. Frampton then had their best period and only stout defending by the Vale back four kept them at bay, backed up by the unflappable Adam Foster in goal.

Vale's attacking moves were finally rewarded five minutes before the break when Lorcan Purser flicked on a Laurence Cooper corner for Martin to double his tally.

Lorcan Purser made it 3-0 with a tidy finish before James Skeldon finished off after a fine run by Adam Gale with a measured shot.

Martin then completed his hat-trick with a free kick bent around the Frampton wall.

Gale's speed saw him run on to an Adam Foster flick before rounding the keeper and knock the ball into an empty net to make it 6-0. Cooper completed the scoring with a superb volley.

MoM: Ewan Hart.

Frampton U16s 2 Avonvale Utd U16s 4

AFTER conceding a goal in the first minute Avonvale Utd U16s produced a stunning second-half performance to beat Frampton 4-2 and maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.

Vale dominated first-half possession but it was the early breakaway goal that separated the teams at half-time.

An excellent headed equaliser from Freeman at the start of the second period was quickly followed by two contenders for goal of the season; a 30-yard thunderbolt from Eddolls and a brilliant team goal clinically finished by Johnson.

Although Frampton pulled a goal back from a corner the Avonvale defence coped comfortably with most threats and it was left to man of the match Johnson to break clear and seal the points with a low finish after more incisive build-up play.

Avonvale sit joint-top of the table with a game in hand.
