STRATTON, who were relegated after winning just two league games last season, have now lost their opening two games in division two by a single goal.

Cirencester League Div Two

Stratton United 4

Wroughton Town 5

Wroughton went in at the break with a 2-0 lead thanks to a quick-fire double on the half-hour in an otherwise even first half.

Stratton came out firing after half-time and quickly drew level through two goals from Ben Collett.

United should really have used this momentum to press on, but their long losing run suggests they have forgotten how to win a football match.

Wroughton were allowed back into the game and they took advantage, playing some good football and making the most of Stratton errors to go 5-2 ahead.

Stratton were reeling but regained their composure to make it a grandstand finish.

Dan Thomson unleashed a 20-yard thunderbolt in the top corner and then Clive Brown dispatched a penalty in off the post to make it 5-4.

It was too little, too late though for Stratton.

Stratton MoM: Ben Collett.
