BILL LEGGATE is obviously a true romantic. To celebrate their first wedding anniversary, like most runners would, he took his wife to Essex for the Grange Farm and Dunmow Runners' Felstead 10k in which he finished sixth overall in 36.17.

The run of the day came from Emma Stepto (34.30) of Cornwall AC who was second only to the winner, Andrew Mynott (34.17) of Springfield Striders.
Cotswold Standard Distance Triathlon
STEVE YATES (1:58.37) is now fast approaching full fitness after last year's serious bike crash, and he was beaten by just 18 seconds in this event.
Victoria Plume (2:21.05) lived up to her promising triathlon start by finishing 37th overall and third lady. Martin Pulley (2:25.38) finished 50th overall.
Third lady vet place went to hard-training Trudy Compton (2:39.30) who finished 109th out of 164 finishers. Michael Milstead won in 1:58.19.
Cotswold Novice Duathlon
ADAM POWELL (54.20) finished in a convincing second place. The winner was Paul Underwood in 51.14 and 45 finished.
The Bourton Mile
THE Bourton Mile, being part of the Gloucestershire Road Race Series, ensured a good turn-out from the Cirencester contingent but all were accustomed to much longer distances.
Simon Campbell was disappointed to manage only fifth place but this puts him in second place in the Series.
Tony Shelbourn and Ruth Fulford both got age-group wins putting them in second and first place V65 spots respectively while Barbara Thomas was second on the night moving into first county age-group place.
Results. 1, Dave Roper (Cheltenham and County Harriers) 4.30; 5, Simon Campbell 4.48; 46, Tony Shelbourn 6.06; 53, Gordon Jones 6.16; 80, Geoff Wells 6.42; 103, Lisa Carpenter 7.17; 109, Barbara Thomas 7.26; 124, Ruth Fulford 8.17. 161 finished.
Swindon Parkrun, 5km park trails
BARBARA THOMAS (25.32) ran to an age-group second in her first race of the day.
Dad Andy Powell ran with daughter Kirsten in her first Parkrun where she was JW10 winner in 28.46. Andrew Duncan (Calne Smart) won in 17.39 and 382 finished.
Great Bustard 5 mile
AN ACCIDENT caused the race to be diverted but ultra-runner Martin Croucher was undaunted as he finished the revised distance of 5.8 miles in 37.01. Peter Keen (35.03) of Swindon Harriers won and 57 finished.
