LECHLADE CC travel to Tewkesbury on Saturday and will be looking for a good win to close the five-point gap on current league leaders Rockhampton.

Tewkesbury, promoted to the Glos/Wilts Division last season, currently sit in sixth place following some good results from limited opportiunities.

Lechlade coach Luke Sellers said: “Had Tewkesbury not been so badly hit by the weather their league position would probably be higher and they would still be on the fringe of a title challenge.”

Last Saturday’s five-wicket win over Warminster saw Lechalde reach the halfway point of the season in second place with just one loss to their name.

Captain Joe Breet said: "I think it’s fair to say that we have not seen the best out of our batting line-up as a unit so far this season and this is something we are aware of and working on. Individually we have seen performances which have helped us win games but not as a team.

“Michael (Craigs) and Luke (Sellers) have bowled well and economically which has put pressure on the batsmen and in turn has allowed bowlers like Asanka (Vithanage), Willy (Nichols) and Tris (Hawkes) all to pick up wickets.”

Lechlade will name a full-strength team for the trip to Tewkesbury with the return of Ryan Higgins who has been absent in recent weeks due to business commitments while also supporting his good friend Gary Ballance on his recent successful home Test debut for England.
