GLOUCESTERSHIRE put in a powerhouse display as they won on all six rinks for a stunning 61-shot success over Worcestershire (149-88) at Chester Road BC.

Worcestershire 88

Gloucestershire 149

The rink that did all the damage was that of Vic Martin (Gloucester Spa) and Malcolm Hart (Gloucester City), both playing in their first county game, along with Craig Gutherie and Paul Keicher (both Tewkesbury) who gained a stunning 33-8 win.

Gloucestershire 100

Wiltshire 130

GLOUCESTERSHIRE were swept aside by local rivals Wiltshire losing by 30 shots (130-100) at Fairford BC.

Peter Smith and Leo D'Elia made use of their home club advantage to post one of only two rink wins for the home side.

Playing with Cheltenham pair John Edwards and Roy Walker, they went 10-4 down after dropping a five on the sixth end. Digging deep they turned it around with two threes, a four and a two to jump into a 19-13 lead after 16 ends.

With their opponents coming back at them they grabbed a crucial three on the last but one end and despite dropping a three on the last end gained a two-shot win (22-20).

Middleton Cup

TWO Tetbury players, Roger Bird and Pete Stinchcombe, have been selected to play for Gloucestershire when they line up against Wiltshire in the opening Middleton Cup group match at Wootton Bassett BC on Saturday, May 31 at 2pm.

Gloucestershire will be looking to avenge their 12-shot defeat in the same competition last year.

Stinchcombe will be lining up against his former county alongside Cheltenham trio Nick Holliday, Mark Perry and Stuart Hodges.

Bird is on the same rink as Olveston duo John Smallwood and Paul Bryant as well as John Roach of Cheltenham.

Gloucestershire Women

Johns Trophy

GLOUCESTERSHIRE women face a stiff Johns Trophy opener when they play the holders Devon at Long Ashton BC on Saturday, May 31 at 1.30pm.

Last season they were humbled in this competition by Devon who went on to win the trophy.

Moreton player Rita Gerry has made the Gloucestershire side and will play on the rink with Val Osmond (Ardagh), Julia Stannard (Nailsworth) and Lindsay Collin (Page Ladies).
