The Mugello circuit in the next round will suit my style

ON Sunday I competed at Le Mans in France, and to be fair it was a pretty frustrating race, writes Danny Kent.

As a team we have struggled with a recurring problem this season – gaining acceleration from first to fourth gear on the straight parts of the course.

When coming to a track like Le Mans, you need all the speed you can get because it has a lot of slow corners.

The track itself was reasonably similar to the track I raced in Jerez, Spain so I knew I would be facing some difficult obstacles.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to convert during some key stages but I am staying confident for my next race in Mugello, Italy on June 1.

Mugello is an exciting track, similar to Termas de Rio Hondo in Argentina, where I competed at the end of last month. The corners are not as slow so I can remain in a higher gear on the bends, allowing for a speedy recovery.

I am looking forward to spending this week at home in Malmesbury, so that I can regroup and focus my mind on the next race which based on previous experience suits my style better.

Ideally, if I can produce a couple of good results in the next few events it will put me in good spirits for my home track, Silverstone in August.

All I can do is continue to work hard in training, stay positive and get myself mentally ready for Italy where I know I can perform well.

Making sure I am at my top level in both body and mind will give me the best chance of success for the rest of the season.
