THE latest event in the Ray Rhymes 10m Time Trial proved a special night for the hosting Corinium Cycling Club.

Attendance records were broken both for participating clubs (10) and riders (70).

And it was the club's second claim riders, Dan Guest (Performance Cycles) and Lee Piercy (PC), who took the top two places in 21.06 and 22.05 respectively.

Club champion Pete Hutchinson, in only his second ride in this year's series, stamped his mark once again with a great ride of 22.37 to take first place, with Andy Morgan (23.09) in second and new member, Simon Barnes (24.21) taking third.

Mark Foyn (25.39) led the pack home in fourth, followed by Gerry Peppin (25.54), new member Richard Woods (25.56) and triathlete Sarah Gunn (25.59), just 17 seconds off her course record.

Other placings: 8, Kevin Lister (first race for some time) 26.09; 9, Jason Costello (past club champion) 26.14); 11, Stephen Chapman 27.19; 11, Allan Norwood 27.20; 13, Terry Barry (30.30). Finally, Marguerite Miatt improved yet again to record 30.40.

After five events, Paul Fuchs now leads the 2014 series at 60 points, with Steve Yates second on 59 and Andy Morgan third on 57.

In the Over 40sā€™ (Vets+ system) Yates still leads on +11.30, from Norwood (+10.28) and Morgan (+7.41).

In addition to Guest and Piercy, other second claim rides were: Mick Sharratt 24.18, Jim Curry (PC) 24.31, Jnr Matt Hodgson (24/7) 24.52 and finally, 75-year-old Keith Williams (Oxford) 29.49.
