CIRENCESTER Hockey Club U8s went unbeaten through their first hockey tournament – the Oxford Rovers event.
Ciren won the first three games easily scoring 12 goals and conceding only one, with some great work from Isabella Stenson, Tom Hulme and Florence Glover.
The last two games were more hard-fought. Against Wallingford it took a brilliant team goal to break the deadlock with Bethan Manning finding midfield dynamo Monty Adamson who set up top scorer Nathan Cutmore to fire in from the top of the D.
The last game saw a tiring Cirencester team take on the giants of the Oxford Hawks.
The defence of Charlotte Salmon, Caitlin Watson and Katie Kimber held fast under some massive pressure but William Deakin's impressive defensive display, with several last ditch saves, kept Ciren's unbeaten record intact.
Cirencester HC U8s results: Eastcote 4-0 win; Oxford C 3-0 win; Oxford B 5-1 win; Wallingford 1-0 win; Oxford Hawks 0-0 draw.
