THIS season has well and truly started and I have had to hit the ground running. Looking to bounce back from my disappointing first performance in Qatar I went to Austin in Texas for the second race in the Moto3 Series, the MotoGP 125cc class for motorcycle riders under 28 years old.

As a team, we made headway since our last race and I finished eighth out of 27 riders. This was a respectable turn-out after struggling on a few set-ups during qualifying.

The atmosphere in Austin was electrifying compared to the first race of the season mainly due to a huge crowd that turned out to support us. After racing under lights in Qatar we were competing during the day and this created an atmosphere more akin to a Grand Prix event – a pretty amazing feeling.

I feel like I’ve made real progress since Qatar which has given me added confidence to improve my performance ready for the upcoming event in Termas de Rio Hondo, Argentina on April 27. This one will be very exciting for the Red Bull Husqvarna AJO racing team because it is an entirely new track for us. From what I’ve seen it’s a very exciting track full of fast, flowing corners, so I can really put my foot down on the bends.

We have been struggling in the past two races but I definitely believe that we can get ourselves back on track, especially with a big performance in this next race.

We just need to ‘turn up’ mentally, find our form, get a good set-up and let our ability do the talking.

I really do feel like I am living the dream. Getting the chance to have a career in a sport that I love is incredible.

Anyone who is looking to follow their dream like I am, I’d suggest working hard to make it to those big races outside of the UK. I really enjoyed the Spanish Championships and the Red Bull Rookies Cup – it was a real chance to be noticed on an international stage.
