TOP-OF-THE-TABLE Purton U10s won their derby with Cricklade 3-1 thanks to Sims netting a brace and Taylor-Harrison scoring the other goal.

The U15s, also table-toppers, were winners too – 5-3 in their home game with Calne Youth.

The U16s romped home 11-2 against Chippenham Youth and continue to top their league as well. Downs (5), Millar (4), Matthews and Fenton were their scorers.

The U18s White were well beaten at home 6-0 by Calne Youth, while the U16 Red team’s game away at Croft was abandoned.

Fairford U11s 6

Abbey Meads U11s 0

FAIRFORD U11s continued their promotion push with an efficient display against a spirited Abbey Meads side.

It took 12 minutes for Dan Ollson to get the scoring underway and he followed up with another goal three minutes later.

A hat-trick from Jimmy Whiteman and a goal from Josh Mason proved decisive with a superb clean sheet kept by the defensive partnership of Marcus Wynne, Harvey Jones, Niall Cusack, Adam Howard and Matty Pizzey.

STRATTON YOUTH ROUND UP

Wootton Bassett U18s 1 Stratton Youth U18s 1

THE U18s travelled to leaders Wootton Bassett on Sunday to challenge their 100 per cent record and came away with a deserved 1-1 draw.

The lively Tom Cox almost opened the scoring on his début but his shot was cleared off the line. Bassett also had chances but Joe Chapple in the Stratton goal was in fine form and the teams went into the break at 0-0.

In the second half despite the best efforts of George Thrussell and Gavin Haselar the goal eventually came.

To their credit Stratton, buoyed by last week’s semi final win, weren’t prepared to give up and new signing Tom Cox volleyed home an excellent goal after good work from Scott Reynolds to bring the scores level at 1-1.

MoM: George Thrussell.

Wanborough Juniors U16s 2 Stratton Youth U16s 8

STRATTON got into their passing game from the off and put the home side under pressure immediately.

Great passing and movement created numerous chances for the visitors before the impressive Nathan Indge finished a neat move.

The ever lively Ashley Organ then doubled the advantage five minutes later before the home side drew a goal back courtesy of a high ball into the box which the wind took over the Stratton goalkeeper.

Alfie Smith restored the two-goal advantage on the half-hour when he rounded the keeper to finish well after another great team move. The lively Sam Grafton then won a penalty just before the break and it was converted coolly by Jamie Jel.

The second half started off much more evenly but Gustav Pederson scored two great goals in quick succession to put the game out of reach of Wanborough.

James Pitt then added another superb goal before defender Chris Hicks produced a great striker’s finish to complete the rout.

Wanborough kept going, though, and got a late goal back but it was all over by then. MoM: Gustav Pederson.

Sevenfields U15s 1 Stratton Youth U15s 4

STRATTON started off in fine form, taking a three-goal lead within the first 15 minutes. Firstly Ben Knowles raced on to a ball over the defence to tuck it past the advancing keeper, then scored his second after a perfectly placed pass from Matt Pitts. Dec Selby bundled the third over the line after a long ball from Conner Hall.

Stratton created a lot more chances and should have been out of sight by half-time. But it was the home side that pulled a goal back from close range.

After the break the game became scrappy but it was still Stratton who were the more dominant and scored a fourth from Robbie Webster after a goalmouth scramble.

With just under 20 minutes remaining the game was brought to an abrupt end when a challenge in the box resulted in a Sevenfields player being knocked out. An ambulance was required which inexplicably took at least 40 minutes to turn up. But thankfully the lad is okay.

MoM: Owen Smart.

Stratton U14s Blue 1 Highworth T U14s 2

THIS was a disappointing performance from the home side who only had an own goal as consolation; the visitors’ Harry Kearns scored the two goals that mattered.

Stratton U14s White 1 Highworth U14s C 3

A MUCH better showing from the white team who scored through Matt James. Ethan Milliner was their MoM, but the visitors’ Ryan Blake starred, scoring his side’s three goals.

Stratton U13s 3 Shaw U13s 3

THE Stratton U13s battled well to take a point off top-of-the-table side Shaw.

Jack Tysom, Tom Keylock and Kieran Walton, with a last-minute penalty, were the scorers and Ben Lawrence the MoM.

Wootton Bassett U11s 4 Stratton Youth U11s 0

ALTHOUGH the Wootton Bassett side were superior in most departments, Stratton kept going throughout.

Stand-out performances came from George Tanner in goal, and Barney Kimber up front.

STRATTON U8s were at home to Wootton Bassett and probably played their best game of the season. Olly Potter scored three goals and Jacob Ryan was also on target.
