HATHEROP CASTLE student Harvey Jupp has been selected for the Independent Schools Football Association (ISFA) U13s South West squad which will play in the Shrewsbury Festival against the eight other UK regions.
It is a spectacular achievement for Harvey – and for Hatherop Castle – as he faced competition from the leading schools in the South West.
For example, four members of the 19-strong squad came from Millfield. There were also four from Bournemouth Collegiate and three from Wycliffe College.
Harvey and his team-mates now face eight matches over five days at the Shrewsbury Festival to determine the country’s top region.
After the regional champions have been crowned, the 22 best players from all nine regions will be selected to play in a final trial, from which next season’s ISFA England U14s will be chosen.
All-rounder Harvey, who plays in midfield for Cirencester Town U13s, has also caught the eye of Gloucestershire county cricket selectors, breaking into their teams as a talented batsman and left arm spinner.
He plays his cricket at Poulton CC.
