Didmarton 3.
Old Richians 2
DIDMARTON bounced back from two disappointing home defeats to gain a vital three points against Old Richians.
The home side had the best of the early possession but chances proved hard to come by. Didmarton eventually capitalised on their dominance after forward Lee Keveren latched on to a Tom Sparks through ball only to be brought down in the area. Rich Harvey coolly converted the penalty low to the keeper’s left.
Old Richians levelled the scores when a lofted ball over the top caught out Didmarton’s backline, allowing Josh Ridgway to take a touch and drive a 20-yard shot into the corner of Waldron’s net.
It was the away side who went into the half-time break in the lead when a corner wasn’t cleared, allowing William Matthews to slot in from close range at the back post.
The second half saw Didmarton come into the game again, with tireless performances from forwards Keveren and Best causing the Richians defence all sorts of problems.
Didmarton got their equaliser after some great play out on the right wing from Tom Redpath.
His lofted 30-yard cross caught the blustery wind and sailed into the top corner of the Richians net.
Didmarton suddenly looked the more likely to score a third, which came when Best was tripped in the box before he could get his shot away and Harvey converted his second penalty of the match.
