Cirencester Town v Gloucester City (2008)

Undoubtedly my best goal was for Gloucester, ironically against Ciren at the Corinium on the final day of the 2008 season.

The ball came to me at head height from a throw. I took a touch on my head and with my back to goal some 20 yards out, spun and hit the ball on the volley and it simply rocketed past Matt Bulman.

It was voted goal of the season by the Gloucester fans that season.

Oxford City v Cirencester Town (2003)

A goal that always brings a smile to my face was for Ciren back in 2003 and was in the FA Cup away at Oxford City.

I hadn’t played for a couple of weeks before as my father had suffered a serious heart attack while on holiday in America and I had flown out there to be with him.

I remember coming off the bench and being on the corner of the penalty area with the ball between my feet and there was nothing on.

I could see a small gap in the far corner of the goal and simply toe-punted the ball as hard as I could and it flew in.

Weston-super-Mare v Clevedon (2003)

A goal that meant a lot was for Weston against our local rivals Clevedon on the Easter Bank Holiday in 2003.

We needed a win to seal promotion and we had about 1,000 fans at the game. The match was a tight, cagey affair when with ten minutes to go a corner came over and fell to me on the volley on the edge of the six-yard box which I swept in. We held on to win 1-0 and the promotion celebrations began!

Gloucester City v Hillingdon Borough (2007)

After a year out through serious injury, my first goal on my return for Gloucester City was an emotional moment.

It happened to be a last-minute equaliser in an FA Trophy tie against Hillingdon Borough.

A shot had been saved and was bouncing around the six-yard box and I launched myself through a crowd of players and headed the ball home. I remember going a bit overboard with my celebrations and getting a booking in the process!

Shepshed Dynamo v Cinderford Town (2000)

As a striker in any team you want to be the top scorer. In the 1999/2000 season Dave Toomey was my strike partner at Cinderford and he had been ahead of me all season.

Going into the final day he had scored 25 and was two ahead. We were away at Shepshed Dynamo. We were short of numbers that day and my brother made his debut in the Southern League at right back for us so it was already a proud day for me.

Anyhow, I scored a hat-trick to end up with one more than Tooms. It was safe to say he was gutted when I notched the third and only signed the match ball through gritted teeth after the game.

Good shout Jody. Saw 3 of those, including that unbelievable purler at Ciren for The Tigers, and yes, they were all special. Sorry to have missed the landmark 250th ... pylonsider
