WILTSHIRE powerlifter Charlie Shotton-Gale has returned triumphant from the International Powerlifting Federation’s World Championships in Norway.

The British title holder competed against the world’s best at the event, powering up two places in the world rankings from seventh to fifth.

“My goal was to reach fifth in the world,” says Charlie. “I’m absolutely thrilled to have achieved that, despite competing with a cold! I gained an international personal best of 202.5k in the squats.”

Charlie also lifted a remarkable 185k in the deadlift and 122.5k in the bench press, not far short of the British records.

The personal trainer, who is currently studying for an MA in Strength & Conditioning at St. Mary’s University College in Twickenham, is now training hard for further top level competitions.

The European Championships take place in Bulgaria in May, 2014, followed by two versions of the World Championships in South Africa (June) and the USA (November).

Charlie has eight years' experience in competitive powerlifting and runs her business ‘SG Fitness’ a s personal trainer. She has trained the current world record holder and European Champion powerlifter Dawn Morrell. Charlie also trains clients at Kiss Gyms in Swindon.
