HIGHWORTH rally driver Shelly Taunt and her co-driver Julie Murphy finished fifth overall and second in class at the recent high-profile Rallye
Sunseeker in Poole.
Taunt also scooped the first lady driver award in her Subaru Impreza.
Taunt said: “We are really pleased with our result; we pushed hard all day and the car ran faultlessly once again.
"The gravel stages were really slippery in the morning and on our second stage I pushed a bit too much causing us to have a spin and then coming to a stop when we hit a bank head on.
"Thankfully, there was no damage
but we did lose valuable time and dropped to sixth."
Driving flat out on stages that were rapidly drying
out, the duo gained a place and also secured second in their class.
The event was won by Roger Duckworth driving his Subaru Impreza world rally car.
Shelly and Julie’s next event will be the South of England Tempest Rally in Aldershot this weekend.
