Cheltenham League Div 1.

Bibury FC 6 Gloucester Elmleaze 1.

BIBURY maintained their grip on the Division One table before the latest icy blast forced widespread abandonments when comfortably beating Elmleaze.

With the wind behind them, Bibury soon took the lead when they were awarded a free-kick for handball about 30 yards from goal. Up stepped John Austin to fire a shot into the top corner – a rare goal from Bibury's experienced midfielder.

Minutes later, Bibury had another good chance but James Keylock fired wide while at the other end Bibury keeper Steve Luce had to make a sharp stop.

Bibury's second goal came when Ashley Rockley weaved through numerous Elmleaze players before casually firing past the keeper.

Keylock was then denied by the Elmleaze keeper but it was not long before Bibury registered their third goal, Chris Singh getting on the end of a Darren Parker pass into the box.

With half-time approaching, Josh Russell found Danny Brunton and he calmly placed the ball in the back of the net for his third goal in as many games.

Minutes into the second half, Elmleaze pulled a goal back to make it 4-1.

Parker then twice went close to increasing Bibury's lead and Rockley hit a post.

Keylock did add number five for the home side after being played in by Rockley and three minutes from time Chris Singh got on the end of a pass from Parker to score number six.

MoM: Chris Singh.
