NICKY WATT'S final weekend with the Swindon Wildcats ended in disappointment as they fell to successive defeats at the hands of Bracknell, writes George Royle.

In the first game of the double-header in Swindon on Saturday, Watt, who will be joining Basingstoke Bison, dropped the gloves with just 15 seconds on the clock and scrapped with James Galazzi.

This got the crowd going and the Cats thrived on that atmosphere, bagging the first goal of the night through Ryan Aldridge.

The game turned on its head in the second session with a Bracknell onslaught leading to them bagging four goals in the space of just six minutes. The Wildcats got one back with a Jonas Hoog goal, but with Scott Spearing scoring again for the visitors, Swindon faced an uphill climb trailing by three goals (5-2) going into the final session.

It was one of the Wildcats' worst performances for some time and with Bracknell bagging the only goal in the third period, they fell to a sorry 6-2 defeat.

On Sunday, the Cats had the chance to gain revenge on the Bees.

Swindon played the better hockey in the first period, but were on the wrong end of a 1-0 scoreline after 20 minutes.

The Cats came out strongly in the second period and scored three goals, Tomas Fojtik firing home two with Aaron Nell grabbing the third.

Bracknell launched an impressive comeback in the third period and managed to lead 4-3 with just five minutes left. The Wildcats pulled goalie Tom Murdy to gain an extra skater and managed to grab an equaliser through Joe Baird to send an enthralling game to overtime.

A current overtime losing streak of nine was soon ten for the Wildcats when the Bees sealed the two points in the penalty shoot-out.

After a phenomenal run of form it was a shame to see the Cats lose twice to a team below them in the table. They will have to pick themselves up for a tough double-header next weekend against the Milton Keynes Lightning.

Coach Ryan Aldridge's search for a British forward to replace Watt is still ongoing. He has admitted that finding British talent at this stage is a tricky task, as the majority of players are now settled at their respective teams.
