ENGLANDS Sports Ground at Poulton has won the 'Playing Field of the Year' award for the second time, having previously won it in 2009. The 2012 presentation was made at the Annual General Meeting of the Gloucestershire Playing Fields Association at Tewkesbury on Monday, December 3.

This is the fifth year that the competition has been running and Jim Nunn received a plaque and a £100 cheque on behalf of Poulton Football and Cricket Clubs, but all credit for the success must go to Wayne Tinson and Brian Cooper for their dedicated efforts in keeping the ground in top condition.

The competition is sponsored by the Grimshaw Group, based in Cheltenham, who specialise in sport surface construction and equipment.

Other notable local achievements were the Upper Up Playing Field in South Cerney, who were highly commended in the same competition, and the Walnut Tree Playground in Fairford, highly commended in the Children's Playground section.
