Cirencester Town Dev 5 Brimscombe & Thrupp Res 2.

Ciren came out of the blocks like Usain Bolt to create chance after chance in the opening exchanges.

However, they fell behind in the tenth minute after a long ball from the back was raced on to by a Brimscombe forward, who slotted it past Harry Ellis in the Cirencester goal.

Ciren responded by pushing even harder and the pressure paid off in the 29th minute when Shane Bumphrey and Jack Smith played a lovely one-two before Bumphrey smashed the ball into the back of the net.

In the second half, Josh Morse was running rampant down the wing and in the 61st minute one of his crosses was back-heeled by Smith into the net. Jack almost got his second from another Morse cross but headed just wide.

Smith turned provider on 69 minutes when he set up Bumphrey to make it 3–1.

Roberts came on to replace Morse and had an almost immediate impact when he passed to Bumphrey who, in turn, pushed it through for Smith to get his second.

It is to the credit of Brimscombe that they didn’t give up and they managed to get a second goal on 83 minutes when a cross was deflected past Ellis.

Roberts and Smith then combined to set up Tim Bond for the fifth goal in the 89th minute.
