JONNY MAY, one of the brightest talents in European rugby, returned to his former club, Royal Wootton Bassett RFC, on Monday – and he came bearing gifts.
May, now firmly in the Gloucester Rugby first XV, was helping launch the LV= Cup season which begins again this week.
May’s Gloucester side, which won the tournanment when beating Newcastle in the 2011 final, kick off the competition tomorrow (Friday) with a visit to Ospreys.
Gloucester centre May, 22, was named LV= Breakthrough Player last season – in the inaugural year of the award. And his prize was to receive £1,000 on behalf of a grassroots club of his choice.
Having begun his career at Royal Wootton Bassett, Jonny chose the Swindon-based club, who will use the money to help with the renovation of their clubhouse.
