Reidy redeemed himself with a terrific strike
9:10pm Monday 20th August 2012 in Evo-Stik Div 1 South & West
By Brian Hughes
THE first half was an edgy, anxious affair with both sides trying not to lose and the goal obviously settled us.
We limited them to virtually nothing and I felt very comfortable in the second half. We even played some football that was a pleasure to watch.
Reidy’s goal was a terrific strike but then some referees may have sent him off earlier for his clash with Tom Parrinello.
There had been niggles between them from the start. Reidy was fouled on the halfway line but got nothing and then he raised his hand and clipped the lad around the ear.
It was nothing, certainly not the sort of thing that would leave you apparently pole-axed. But you simply cannot raise your hands. At least he redeemed himself with the goal.
Again Sam Collier was excellent up front and I am hoping that when he gets a goal or two the floodgates might open.
He just overcooked the execution of the lob he put over the bar but I was right behind the volley after that which he made out of nothing and it had goal written all over it until Greavesy made a brilliant save.
Of his side’s three yellow cards, Hughes said: “There was no argument about Reidy’s; Sam picked up his for dissent out of frustration and Sys’ was extremely harsh.”
