THREE local players are in the GLCGA squad which will represent the South West region in the County Finals to be played at East Devon Golf Club next week (Sept 17-21).
They are Alison Kelly, from Cirencester GC, as well as Corrinne Durber and teenager Victoria Wakeley-Jones, both from Minchinhampton GC (New Course).
Durber, who is also the County Training Officer, said: “We have had an extensive training programme over the year, and feel very prepared for the England Finals. The girls are all very focused and are looking forward to the week.”
Their opponents are defending champions Lincolnshire on the oepning day, 2010 champions Lancashire, Buckinghamshire, Essex and Surrey.
The championship is one of the highlights of the women’s calendar.
The players will be tested by a clifftop course with a number of tight driving holes and an abundance of heather and gorse.
