Stow win entertaining local derby against Chipping Norton

Berks/Bucks & Oxon Premier.

Stow-on-the-Wold 34 Chipping Norton 12.

The early pressure came from Stow and this was rewarded when Craig Chapman drove over from the back of a maul to score; Nick Cafearo converted. Chipping Norton quickly replied when their forwards drove over the line from a line-out.

Both sides had chances but it was Stow who managed to turn them into points. Cafearo broke through inside his own half and offloaded to Alex Kelly who used his pace to score close to the posts.

Just before the break, Stow increased their lead when the outstanding Kelly outpaced several defenders to score under the posts, with Cafearo converting to give Stow a healthy 19-5 lead.

In the second half, Chipping Norton could have closed the gap but did not take their opportunities. Stow scored their bonus-point try out wide via Louis Miller.

A Cafearo penalty edged Stow into a secure lead before the game was put out of reach when Kelly was again on hand to collect the ball from Cafearo and score under the posts; Cafearo converted.

Stow lost a man to the bin in the final minutes of the game when Chipping Norton took advantage to score their second try of the game and add the conversion.
