Charlton Rovers have the edge over Bibury
12:23pm Monday 3rd September 2012 in Sport
Cheltenham League Div 1.
Charlton Rovers 3 Bibury FC 2.
PROMOTED Bibury started the season with a defeat but it was at Charlton Rovers, last year's league runners-up.
The early exchanges were even and Bibury took the lead when Scott Huband beat a couple of defenders and fired in from a narrow angle.
Bibury then missed a couple of good chances to extend their lead before Charlton equalised with a close range finish.
Charlton's second goal was a wonder strike from distance which moved in the air giving keeper Luce no chance.
Just before the break, Huband intercepted a back pass and calmly slotted past the home keeper to level the scores.
The second half started with Charlton on top and it did not take long for them to take the lead, Bibury failing to clear their lines and a Charlton striker taking full advantage.
Bibury made a couple of changes and went after the equaliser in the last 20 minutes when they were camped in the Charlton half, but the home defence and keeper stood firm.
Chris Singh did have a shot cleared off the line while Darren Parker hit the post from distance.
MoM: Danny Brunton.
