No room for any weak links warns Gary Patchett

SIMON STEAD'S place in the play-off-chasing Swindon Robins team appears to be hanging by a thread.

Former captain Stead, who enjoyed a hugely successful Testimonial meeting with the Robins only last week, has been named in the team to face leaders Poole in a vital Elite League match at the Abbey Stadium on Thursday, despite a poor recent run of results.

But he does so without a ringing endorsement from club bosses Gary Patchett and Alun Rossiter.

Patchett said: "Simon is aware we are concerned about his form.

"He says he is determined to turn things around which is good to hear and we will continue to work with him to enable him to achieve that.

"Our team was built with strength in depth and potential heat winners in every position. We will not shirk the responsibility to make the difficult decisions if and when necessary and we will not enter the play-offs with any weak links if a better option is available."
