Cotswold & District Cricket Association Division 1 round-up
8:22am Monday 6th August 2012 in Sport
ONCE AGAIN the weather intervened with only two of the five scheduled SweetFuels CDCA Division 1 matches completed on Saturday.
League leaders Adlestrop had a comfortable win at Oaksey after batting first and recording 208-5.
For most of the innings, Oaksey felt they contained the free scoring visitors and at 141-5 after 36 overs felt they might be chasing a reasonable target.
However, Sam Keen was still at the wicket and at this point he cut loose, hitting 12 fours and seven sixes in reaching an excellent unbeaten hundred, his second in consecutive weeks. The last four overs yielded 67 runs.
The Oaksey innings started brightly, however the openers, who had put on 165 last week, were out in consecutive overs, quickly followed by the skipper.
A partnership of 36 for the fourth wicket gave the hosts some hope but the unnecessary run out of Nigel Doggett (24) started the rot. The last six wickets yielded only 24 runs as Oaksey collapsed to 88 all out.
Once again Sam Keen (3-2) and Dan Parker (2-9) did most of the damage with the ball as Adlestrop consolidated their position as league leaders.
At Williamstrip, the slightly depleted hosts posted a competitive 171-8, with Froy Litherland top-scoring on 33. Visitors Sherston Magna, who have struggled for runs all season, found this target well out of reach and collapsed to a paltry 17 all out after only 12 overs.
Opening bowlers H Sheppard (6-6) and Robbie Hopkins (3-10) made hay while the sun shone (between the showers) to keep Williamstrip in the hunt for the league title.
The matches at NATS, Chedworth and Barnsley were all abandoned due to heavy showers.
