MUTTIAH MURALITHARAN will play for Gloucestershire in their Friends Life t20 quarter-final against Sussex next Tuesday.

The international world record wicket taker was a key part of the Gloucestershire squad that performed strongly in the group stages, including a convincing win at Taunton against local rivals Somerset, and has agreed to return to the club for the knockout stages.

Gloucestershire chief executive Tom Richardson said: "Murali made a major contribution on and off the field during our group t20 matches and we are delighted he has been able to return to join up with the team for the quarter finals.

“We would like to thank Sitec Group, our t20 shirt sponsors, for their support which has helped make this possible."

However, Gloucestershire’s other overseas player, Rob Nicol, is ineligible as the New Zealand batsman did not play in any of the group games.

Tickets for the game against Sussex at Hove can be purchased directly from Sussex County Cricket Club via www.sussexcricket.co.uk or by telephoning 0844 264 0206 (office hours are 9am-5pm Monday-Friday, 9.30am to 12.30pm Saturday).
