Josh Loughrey Josh Loughrey

WRAG BARN golfer Josh Loughrey has been named in a six-strong squad to represent England Golf in the Chiberta Grand Prix in Biarritz (July 5-8) as well as the Biarritz Cup (July 11-13).

Highworth’s Loughrey is a familiar face at these tournaments having finished equal fourth in the Grand Prix and tied sixth in the Biarritz Cup a year ago.

Loughrey is one of four players in the travelling party from the South West.

The other members heading for France are: Craig Adams (Farrington, Somerset), Ryan Evans (Wellingborough, Northamptonshire), Tom Harris (Castletown, Isle of Man), Jimmy Mullen (Royal North Devon, Devon), and Jordan Smith (Bowood G&CC, Wiltshire).

Loughrey, 21, a member of the England ‘A’ squad, won the Scrutton Jug for the lowest aggregate from the Brabazon and Berkshire Trophies last year and was a member of the Wiltshire team (along with brother and fellow England international Ben) that won the English County Championship for the first time.

It followed a successful season in which he finished tied third in the Darwin Salver and fourth in the Duncan Putter. Earlier this year, he spent four months in Australia playing for the Waverley club in their annual Pennant Series.
