Dunham pipped at Hickstead Championships
PARALYMPIC GOLD medallist Anne Dunham has been on flying form at the British Para National Dressage Championships at Hickstead this week, writes Becca Dunn.
But she has twice had to settle for second best behind her GB team-mate Sophie Christianson from Berkshire.
In the second day of competition, Broad Hinton’s Dunham, who has trained at Cirencester’s Talland School of Equitation, finished in second and third places with her two equine contenders Teddy Edwards and Lucas Normark.
Despite achieving a spectacular score of 81.50 per cent with Teddy Edwards, Dunham proved no match for Christianson who scored a brilliant 85.13 on Janiero 6. Anne also scored a very solid 73.00 per cent with Lucas Normark.
Dunham has seven Paralympic medals from previous Olympic Games at Atlanta, Sydney, Athens and Beijing.
The British Paralympic team selections will be announced shortly after the Hartpury Para International Dressage (July 4-9) in which Dunham will also compete.
HIGHWORTH eventer Paul Tapner has enjoyed success at Luhmulen in Germany on the penultimate leg of the HSBC FEI Classics tour. Tapner finished tenth behind a host of international eventing stars such as Wiltshire-based Lucinda Fredericks, Andrew Nicholson and Andrew Hoy, with a score of 57.70.
