ANOTHER week of weather-disrupted cricket saw only two games completed in the SweetFuels CDCA Division 1.
At Adlestrop, visitors Oaksey lost the toss and unsurprisingly found themselves batting on a soft wicket against the best bowling attack in the league.
The Adlestrop opening bowlers used the conditions well to make life incredibly difficult for Oaksey and with only 12-1 on the board at the halfway mark the opposition already had a mountain to climb.
Risks then had to be taken and wickets inevitably fell to leave Oaksey on 67-8 at the end of 40 overs. Opener Roger Gillespie (29) held the innings together but only one other batsman reached double figures. For Adlestrop, the experienced Nick Keen set the tone with only 8 runs, coming off his ten-over spell. Dan Parker hardly bowled a bad ball for his 2-12 and Sam Keen provided the penetration, taking 4-19.
The Oaksey bowlers could not provide the same level of control but still made life difficult for the home batsmen, taking three wickets before the target was reached in the 22nd over. Christian Hudson-Evans top-scored with 20.
Conditions were similar at Stow-on-the-Wold where visitors NATs were invited to bat first. Good bowling from Seb Bevan (5-10) and Hayden Elsdale (3-5) saw NATs collapse to 50 all out in the 26th over.
The hosts didn’t hang about and reached the target in the 14th over without losing a wicket, Chris Heaps top-scoring with 34*.
The matches at Sherston Magna and Barnsley Beeches fell victim to the recent heavy rain.
