AFTER the 6-2 drubbing at Hitchin on Saturday, I had the players in early on Monday.

I started telling them what I thought at 1.15 and such was my anger that I did not finish until ten to two.

I would have been staggered if there had not been a response after that and we got one.

But imagine my feelings when I started with three centre backs and within four minutes their centre forward scores with a free header from two yards.

However, from there on, we rallied and on another day we could have come away with a win. In the circumstances, the performance and the result was as much as I could have hoped for.

The two new faces who came in both did well. Mike Green made a big difference in goal.

Danny Greaves, by his own admission has not been at his best, but he has been playing with an injury and sometimes you don’t do yourself any favours by carrying on.

Matt Lock scored with a lovely strike for the equaliser. I thought David Stone should have had a penalty in the second half and then there was the fiasco in the last minute when Lock was through on goal and the referee mistakenly blew for offside.

But that is the way our luck is going at the moment.

I know where I would like to make changes and we are working hard to bring players in. Our home form has been okay but I am mindful that we have conceded four, four and six in our three away games.

We travel to Redditch on Saturday where I have never won and we look short on numbers.

Reidy and Zak Westlake are away and Paul Banks is on holiday, although he is suspended in any case. Matt Lock has been recalled by Gloucester because of injuries.

Jody is being troubled by his knee, but at least David Murphy is back, having been at a family party on Monday.
